Christian Ortlepp is the new Director Guest Events at Messe and Congress Center Basel and Messe Zürich. In this role, he is responsible for the ongoing expansion of our offerings at the Basel and Zurich venues. His many years’ experience in the industry and his international network in the trade fair and congress sector will stand him in good stead. Jonas Scharf has been appointed new COO of the division Exhibitions & Events.
In December of last year, the future orientation of Messe and Congress Center Basel and Messe Zürich was confirmed in personnel terms too. As the new Director Guest Events, Christian Ortlepp has taken over management of the Guest Events Division from Jonas Scharf. In this new role, he will be focussing strongly on further expanding the offerings at our Basel and Zurich venues. In addition to the already successful congress business, this primarily involves attracting new international and national guest fairs to Basel. Christian Ortlepp was previously head of sales for Guest Events in Basel.
After the handover to Christian Ortlepp, Jonas Scharf took on the role of COO (Chief Operating Officer) of the Exhibitions & Events Division. In this newly created post, he is now responsible for the Technical Office, the Building & Operations team, quality management and technical services. Jonas Scharf will be focusing increasingly on the further development of the service portfolio and the MCH Group’s infrastructure in Switzerland. Alongside his role as COO, Jonas Scharf remains Managing Director Venues in Basel and acts as deputy to Roman Imgrüth, CEO of the division Exhibitions & Events.
